These products are available as standard “raw” cells or featuring built in protection. Lithium Ion batteries are used in speciality industry applications. More recently used in high powered consumer LED flashlights due to the higher overall power output when compared to conventional battery types. Lithium based rechargeable are not a direct replacement for conventional batteries of the same size. They are designed for specialised equipment and will cause damage if used in a device that uses general batteries such as TV remotes, digital camera, film equipment and others.
